Here's what is going on around the world today:

--Lars Ulrich from Metallica told reporters recently of his new respect for games like "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" because they are encouraging kids to listen to music that was made decades before they were even born. Since the games were released, record and guitar sales have increased dramatically - a blessing, since the "Rock 'n' Roll" music genre has been on a downward slope in the market for quite some time. More kids are growing up listening to "Hip-Hop", "Pop", and "Rap". Lars says that his 10-year-old son's favorite bands are the same ones that he played on his stereo when he was younger and he has music games like these to thank for it.

Finally, the video game industry is getting good feedback from the media! I think America has had a slight bittersweet taste since young students were committing crimes and blaming the games they played after school. Although I rarely play "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" these days (I have in the past), I am thankful that they seem to be reincarnating an era that I wish I could have been part of. What do you guys think?

--More crazy stuff going on today in Germany as a gorilla from the zoo in Muenster is still carrying around the body of her baby that died on Saturday. Experts say that this is normal behavior for these primates and that the mother "is mourning and must say goodbye."

What would you do if you took your family to the zoo and saw something like this? Apparently there are sign set up and zoo employees nearby to answer questions but would that make you feel better about the situation? What if we did the same thing? Could you imagine going to the grocery store and seeing someone trying to push a cart around while trying to balance their dead mother in-law across their shoulders?

--In other news:

Near San Diego, workers are starting to build a border fence that is going to cost tax payers about $57 million. It should be about 3 1/2 miles long (are you serious?).

Oil is getting cheaper (for now) and the dollar is rising in value.

New York inmates are given playing cards that each feature a different "cold case" in hopes that they will be heard talking about the crimes and some of the cases will be solved.

--Also

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families, and survivors of Spanair Flight JK5022, which crashed Wednesday afternoon at the Barajas Airport in Madrid.

Hello again bloggers..

Yesterday I posted a question in the Coffee Shop to get some of your opinions about the Chinese Gymnasts, but since none of you responded I am going to talk about the news for today.

--First up today is the situation with people that share the same name with someone on the terrorist watch list and have a hard time checking in for their flights. I guess having a common name like "James Robinson" could make your life just a bit more difficult now-a-days, according to a retired Air National Guard General and commercial pilot, former assistant attorney general for President Clinton, and one 8 year old boy. All three of them have reported delays in just being able to check into the airlines whenever they want to travel. Instead of being able to complete the process online or at curbside, they must go to the ticket counter and wait while an airline employee makes phone call after phone call and fill out special forms so that they can get their name off the list.

Now here is the question for you guys: Is our national security worth all this trouble? Do you have a better solution, or is this just a sacrifice some people will have to make to ensure the safety of our travelers?

--My next topic is one that makes me sick to my stomach. Tuesday a convicted sex offender admitted to the robbery, kidnap, rape, and murder of a 20 year old college student in South Carolina two years ago. He reportedly strangled her with her own bikini top and left her body in an off-campus apartment. A defense psychiatrist for the case stated that he has repeatedly said he wants to get the death penalty for this crime, claiming that he wants to pay for his actions. It makes me want to vomit when I keep hearing about things like this.

Should he get the death penalty? What do the readers think about this?

--With other news:

Apparently the Bigfoot claim is fake... who knew?

In Germany an old couple got stuck upside down for three hours after they flew their small plane into some power lines.

Invisible cloaks might actually be possible! This was pretty cool.

Also, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the reported 7 tornadoes spawned in southern Florida from tropical storm Fay.

Please feel free to leave comments. I want to know what you think.

Thanks for reading,

This is my first real post on this blog and I guess I am starting this out in an odd way. For some reason, today I am feeling a bit emo.. which I feel is unlike me. I'll try to spare you guys.

For my job I am stuck in Asia for a few weeks with just about no work to do. Any other time I would think of this as a neat adventure or something but I am concerned about some personal issues back at home. Anyway, a thought has been stuck in my mind all day. As with traveling to many foreign countries, I was warned that I should only drink bottled water but without thinking about it, I have been brushing my teeth with juice from the good ol' tap. Am I going to get malaria or anything from doing this? It's not like i swallowed any..

Another thing:

What's with all the tiny slow cars? You've seen those orange ones made by Little Tikes that two year old children stroll around in like the Flintstones? Those are them. You would think that with most of the technological superpowers residing on this continent there would be some beefed up monsters rolling around. Especially since from what I've seen, the police officers are only armed with sticks and drive those same cars. Each is like coffee can being pushed around by a few buzzing bees.

Well that's all I am really thinking about today.

Until next time,

Introduction

Posted by One Cent Ramber | 6:56:00 PM

Hello,

My name is Steve and I guess I'll start out with a little bit about myself. I have a pretty demanding job in the IT field and would like a place where I can unwind and talk about whatever is going on in my mind.

!WARNING!
You never know what I might be thinking so read with extreme caution.
